Special incentive of Rs. 5,000 for journalists and Rs. 10 lakhs relief in case of death due to Covid-19: Chief Minister M K Stalin
Coimbatore: A press release from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin has ordered an increase in incentive and relief amount for journalists.
The press release said, "In the midst of various difficulties during the Coronavirus pandemic period, journalists have been instrumental in bringing useful information and news to the masses and raising awareness. In order to promote their work as a connecting bridge between the people and the Government during this period, for journalists, photographers and cinematographers working in registered newspapers, television and periodicals in all districts (such as Government Identity Card / Identity Card issued by the District Collector / Free Bus Pass Card), the Chief Minister has ordered to increase special incentives for those who are approved by the Government."
"During the last regime, the incentive given to journalists was Rs.3,000. After considering the request received to increase this, the Chief Minister has ordered to increase the incentive for journalists from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000. Similarly, during the last regime, the Government had announced compensation of Rs. 5 lakhs to the heirs of Government-recognized journalists working in the press and media sector who died due to Coronavirus. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has now considered the request made by the media to raise this as well and has ordered to increase it to Rs. 10 lakhs," elaborated the release.
The Chief Minister has also requested the press and all media outfits to carry out their work in a safe manner during the pandemic.
