Coimbatore: Buses operated by the Coimbatore State Transport Corporation in the last two days have generated a revenue of Rs. 44 lakhs.
With the ease of lockdown restrictions for transport for two days, Government buses were operated from Coimbatore to Dindigul, Theni, Madurai and Salem May 22nd and 23. Thousands of people who had waited long to get to their hometowns travelled in these buses, thereby generating a revenue of Rs.44 lakhs for the State Transport Corporation.
Coimbatore Transport Corporation Assistant General Manager, Senthilkumar said, "In Coimbatore district, 410 buses were operated to outstation locations for two days. In addition, town buses were also operated. A total of Rs. 44 lakhs has been collected in the past two days. About 15,000 people have traveled to their hometowns on Governent buses operated from Coimbatore to other districts. Buses are being operated separately for cleaning staff and Government and private employees, with 14 buses operated for this purpose on Monday.
