Tokens to be issued by Coimbatore Corporation to prevent public from crowding to be vaccinated in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation administration has decided to issue tokens to prevent people from crowding to be vaccinated while waiting in queues at Coimbatore Corporation Centers.
Vaccination drives have been underway in the district to control Covid-19 infections from spreading but due to shortage of vaccinations, public have been complaining about being unable to get vaccinated.
People have had to wait in long queues from morning at vaccination centers to be vaccinated which poses an increase in the risk of infection. Sometimes, due to shortage of vaccines, the public have been asked to return without being vaccinated which has caused inconvenience and disappointment among the public. Hence, the Corporation has decided to issue tokens to the public to avoid queuing up for long periods of time.
A Corporation official said, "Vaccination is being administered at five places in Coimbatore Corporation namely the Government Arts College, Varadharajapuram Corporation High School, Kuniyamuthur Government High School, Ramalingam Colony Corporation School and Maniyakarampalayam Corporation Primary School.
Public have been waiting in long queues to be vaccinated since morning. Hence it has been decided to issue a token to avoid this. The date and time of vaccination will be specified for the person to be vaccinated. They can come to the Centers to get vaccinated at that allotted time. This way no one has to wait in line,” he reassured.
