165 bags of liquor and 206 bottles of liquor were confiscated from vehicles supposedly carrying vegetables from Karnataka to Ooty and Cuddalore via the Kakkanalla check post in Nilgiris district. Narayanan from Ooty and Sajindev from Cuddalore were arrested by the Cuddalore police in this connection. The vehicle used for smuggling was also confiscated.
Also, while checking a vehicle transporting vegetables from Kundalpet to Pandharpur in the area under the jurisdiction of the Devala police station limit in Nilgiris district, 3,000 Hans tobacco packets were discovered. The vehicle has been seized.
A case has been registered against Mohammad (32) of Koovamula area of Pandalur and Saleem (32) of Atti area of Pandalur in connection with the smuggling of liquor and tobacco.
