Following this, government buses will ply from Coimbatore Singanallur bus stand to Madurai, Dindigul, Theni and Trichy and from Gandhipuram Central bus stand to Erode and Salem.
A zonal official of the Coimbatore State Transport Corporation said:
‘Buses are being operated from Coimbatore to outstations following the order of the Tamil Nadu government. Apart from this, we also run buses to Coimbatore-Pollachi and Coimbatore-Mettupalayam.
In the first phase, 50 buses will be operated to Madurai, Trichy, Dindigul and Theni. As the number of passengers increases, the number of buses will increase accordingly. Officers have been appointed at all bus stands for this purpose. The drivers and conductors are ready, ”
