Minister of Forests K Ramachandran launches an online portal for viewing flowers at the world famous Ooty Government Botanical Garden.


Coimbatore: The annual flower show is held at the world famous Government Botanical Garden in Ooty, Nilgiris District, known as the Queen of the Hills.

Last year and this year the flower show was canceled due to the Coronavirus and tourists were banned.Over the past six months, the park staff has planted and maintained 5 lakh flower seedlings in 293 varieties of 52 varieties and 25 thousand flower pots at the Government Botanical Garden with the aim of holding a flower show as usual this year. Flowers planted include lilies, dahlias, salvia, petunias, aster, and marigold.



Flowers are decorated to give out a message to make the public vaccinate against Covid-19 and to raise awareness about the pandemic. Flowers have been arranged in a simple manner due to the pandemic. The Minister of Forests also raised awareness about the multi-colored flowers displayed on the pedestals.



Ramachandran and Deputy Assembly Member R. Ganesan, Gudalur Assembly Member Pon Jayaseelan, District Collector Innocent Divya visited and launched the Virtual service and social media for the public to view the spectacular flowers.

Speaking to reporters later, the Minister said that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu was taking various steps to produce oxygen and import oxygen from abroad and that it would be distributed to each district after its arrival.
