Coimbatore Drug Control Unit Chief Constable dies after falling from two-wheeler near Kinathukadavu
Coimbatore: Kannan (46) and Sivakumar (47) who are Chief Constables of the Coimbatore Drug Control Unit were patrolling Kinathukadavu area on a two-wheeler to check if liquor was being sold illegally in Sencherimalai area. Even as they travelled to Coimbatore via Kondampatti Road, they came to a halt at Lakshmi Nagar near Kinathukadavu but unexpectedly fell down from the two-wheeler.
Chief Constable Kannan who was riding the two wheeler reportedly sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot. Following this, locals rescued the other Constable Sivakumar who was also injured and rushed him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital by ambulance. Kinathukadavu police later rushed to the spot and recovered the body of the deceased Chief Constable Kannan and sent the body to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. The Kinathukadavu police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
