Man arrested for hoarding 1,750 liquor bottles and selling alcohol from his home in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Liquor shops in Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu have remained closed due to the complete lockdown that is being implemented in the district. The Periyanaickenpalayam Alcohol Prohibition Department received information from police that Murugesan (42), son of Arumugam of K K Nagar in Edayarpalayam was selling alcohol by hoarding liquor bottles at his home. The Alcohol Prohibition Department immediately rushed to the man's home and conducted an investigation. The officials found that 1,750 bottles of liquor were hoarded in the man's house and were being sold.



Murugesan was immediately arrested and 1,750 bottles of liquor were confiscated from him. Police are still investigating as to who supplied the liquor to Murugesan since he had earlier only been collecting empty bottles and delivering them in bulk to a brewery.
