Kin of Covid-19 victims queue up to cremate their dead in city's electric crematorium even as more corpses pile up
Coimbatore: According to a Government press release, over 3,000 people in Coimbatore are reportedly suffering from Covid-19 and the death toll has been increasing with every passing day.
The Coimbatore Athupalam Electric Crematorium which used to cremate only 3 or 4 corpses a day is now witnessing more than 5 ambulances lining up with corpses that need to be cremated.
Kin and caregivers who wait outside the crematorium to perform the last rites fear that this could pose a risk of infection among those waiting outside the crematorium.
"The Government of Tamil Nadu must tighten the curfew and extend the lockdown for another two months. The Tamil Nadu Government needs to know how much we have suffered these past few weeks," bemoaned the bereaved kin.
