Yakov was suffering due to severe abdominal pain for the last 2 years. It was incurable even after receiving treatment.
Coimbatore: Yakov (70) was from the Srilankan refugees camp in Aliyar near Pollachi, Coimbatore. She is the mother of 2 sons and 2 daughters. They all are married and are living in the same area.
She has been living in the area and has been living alone in a house in the camp after the loss of her husband. In this condition, Yakov was allegedly suffering due to severe abdominal pain for the last 2 years. It was incurable even after receiving treatment.
On being depressed for sometime, she today poured kerosene on the body and set it on fire when no one was at home this morning. She burned to death on the spot.
Following this, the Azhiyar police went to the spot, seized the body and the Coimbatore government hospital for an autopsy. Police have registered a case and are investigating further about the incident.
