'We will remove traitors like weeds from the field:' Kamal Haasan on Dr R Mahendran's exit from MNM

Kamal Haasan slams Makkal Needhi Maiam Vice President Dr. R Mahendran as a traitor that needed to be weeded out. Dr. R Mahendran had quit from the party on Thursday citing various reasons for his exit.

Chennai: In response to Makkal Needhi Maiam's (MNM) Vice President Dr. R Mahendran quitting from the party on Thursday citing various reasons for his exit, MNM President Kamal Haasan issued a press release accusing Dr. R Mahendran as the first among many traitors.

In the press release, Kamal Haasan stated that Makkal Needhi Maiam contested in its debut assembly election with a big dream to develop Tamil Nadu. "We saw with our eyes that we had traitors along with enemies in the field. The unanimous voice was to "weed out the traitors" and Dr. R Mahendran was the first person on the list who had to be weeded out. He says there is no democracy in the party but yet he is the greatest example of how democracy can fail at times," stated Kamal Haasan.

"He dared to rip the faces of the ones who gave him identity. His only achievement was ensuring good people left the party. Everyone knows that the gates of Makkal Needhi Maiam will remain open for anyone except dishonest people and those against sovereignty. He seeks sympathy by blaming his lack of sovereignty, his dishonesty and failure on others. Very well knowing that he would be anyway removed from the party, he wisely withdrew. It is good that a weed understands itself as a weed and removes itself. We can now look towards the ascent as a party," slammed Kamal Haasan.

"Everything in my life is obvious, for I have never tried to cover up or deny the mistakes I made. My brothers and sisters of the party, I do not want to offer consolation because your heroism and prowess are known to the town. We never cared about the cowards running around the tent during the defeat. There is no change in the course or ideology of our party's policies. We will stand in the field to protect the people of the soil and our language," reiterated Kamal Haasan.
