This sudden death of a leopard has shocked the wildlife activists as an elephant was found dead in a mysterious way just a few days back.
Coimbatore: In the Manampalli Forest Range of Anamalai Tiger Reserve in Coimbatore District. There are a wide range of wildlife animals including Leopards, Deer, Tigers, Elephants etc.
Workers who were involved in spraying fertilizers near the Manampalli Forest Range observed a foul smell coming from a nearby area.
On going nearby, the workers found a dead Leopard in a decayed stage. The workers informed the forest officials. Anamalai Tiger Reserve Director Arokiya Xavier, Manampalli Forest Ranger Manigandan, ACF officials along with other forest officials arrived at the scene immediately and recovered the body of the Leopard.
Veterinary Doctor Mei Arasan performed a necropsy in front of volunteer Ganesh. Officials said that the Leopard is estimated to be of age 4 and might have died during a fight during mating with another Leopard.
Officials also revealed that the Leopard might have been dead 10 days ago and wild pigs might have eaten it. Forest officials then built a pyre and burnt the Leopard.
