Coimbatore: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has requested all its members and students to help people fight against 'Covid-19'.
ICAI, Southern Indian Regional Council Chairman, CA K Jalapathi said, "On behalf of 'ICAI' we have made a request to all our members and students to help people fight Covid-19 since we are aware of the critical times the nation is going through. In the wake of the phenomenal surge of the Covid pandemic, most of the States are grappling to provide optimum care and treatment to people with serious illness due to shortage of hospital/ICU beds, oxygen, essential medicines, vaccines etc. It is imperative for us as good samaritans and responsible citizens to join in the monumental efforts of the Government to deal with the pandemic."
"There is a dire need for all of us to come together at this crucial hour, pool in our resources and help the society in any meaningful way, however small it may be. We can at least help the CA fraternity (members, students, employees of ICAI and their immediate family members) who or whose near and dear ones are or have been infected by the virus and could be looking desperately for some help.
Your help can be in a number of ways - if you want to know any oxygen supplier in your place, you could let the institute know of them in different cities; if you are employed in or associated with any pharmaceutical company, hospital or insurance company, then you could help your fellow brethren to get essential medicines, emergency admissions in hospitals, assistance in getting vaccination, hospital treatment, stay arrangements for outstation accompanying persons, speedy insurance claim settlement etc.
You could also arrange for financial contribution (through CSR provisions) through clients for hospital beds, ventilators and other items covered under Companies Act. Interested people can share the necessary information through the Google form by clicking the link: https://forms.gle/SUaAaPZgG6Pd8xg79
This information will be shared by the institute with the CA fraternity at large through our website and mail. We need more volunteers. It is not necessary for the volunteers to be on field to do this job, it is enough that you work from the place of your convenience, you can volunteer over phone to identify hospitals and to do other help. The Institute is looking up to you. Together we shall overcome this difficult time," reiterated ICAI's Southern Indian Regional Council Chairman.
