Dr Mahendran from Makkal Needhi Maiam who contested against K R Jayaraman (AIADMK) and Karthik N (DMK) thanked party leader Kamal Haasan for sowing the seed of politics in him.
Coimbatore: Makkal Needhi Maiam, Vice President and Singanallur constituency candidate, Dr. Mahendran issued a press release after the end of State assembly elections results saying, "In just three years of founding the Makkal Needhi Maiam party, we have gained support in our fight against the iconic Dravidian parties.

I consider this itself as a massive victory, to have put forth fierce competition in the electoral arena, along with parties that have had a long history and support from the people of Tamil Nadu. I am proud that every vote for us was an honest vote."
