A prisoner who was held at the Coimbatore Central Jail for investigation died suddenly.
Coimbatore:Palanichamy, 46, a resident of the Mudhalipalayam in Tirupur district was arrested in an attempted murder case in the area by the Uthukkuli police officials.
He was later sent to the Coimbatore Central Jail as a prisoner in remand. Palanichamy, who was in jail, suddenly fell ill at 11 am yesterday and fainted.
Prison officials saw this and rescued him and admitted him to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. There he was admitted to the intensive care unit by doctors and was under treatment. Failing to respond to the treatment Palanichamy died tragically. Racecourse police have registered a case and are investigating regarding the death of an inmate.
