Kozhikode Court sentences actress Saritha Nair to 6 years of rigorous imprisonment in solar panel scam
Coimbatore: Actress Saritha S Nair was sentenced to six years of rigorous imprisonment by the Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was slapped a fine of Rs. 40,000 in connection with a solar scam.
Saritha was the second accused in a solar scam where she was found guilty of duping Abdul Majeed, owner of Associated Steels Yard into paying Rs. 42.70 lakhs. It was found that she had promised Abdul Majeed franchises in solar panel and windmill farm companies, in 2012.
The case was heard at the Kozhikode court. Though Saritha Nair was repeatedly summoned by the Court, she failed to appear at the Court and hence was ordered to be arrested. The first accused in the solar scam, Biju Radhakrishnan is said to be under quarantine owing to Covid-19 and hence the Magistrate stated that the details of his sentence would be announced later.
