The Nilgiris: Appointing a priest for the Bethala Hethaiamman Temple in Kotagiri, The Nilgiris district was an ongoing issue for the last 3 years. This issue was finally put to rest on Wednesday under Coonoor DSP Suresh.
The Nilgiris District is home to the famous Bethala Hethaiamman Temple. It is said that the 3 temple priests behave in a disrespectful manner to the public violating village rules and regulations.

Hence, Badaga people from 18 villages requested the priests to be changed. But even after the High Court's order the issue was unsolved for more than 3 years by 2 parties.
Badaga people from 18 villages requested the priests to be changed. Around 2500 Badaga family members from 18 villages including Ilithurai, Edapalli and Pettati hoisted black flags at their houses as a form of protest.

Meanwhile Coonoor DSP on Wednesday called both the parties and conducted a meeting with them. During the meeting, the issue finally came to an end. Both the parties agreed to take further decisions after discussing it with the village elders and finally came to an understanding.
Public of the village are happy as the 3 year long issue finally came to an end.
