Estate workers from the Varatuparai area in Valparai found a dead elephant's body in a decayed stage.
Coimbatore: Estate workers from the Varatuparai area in Valparai found a dead elephant's body in a decayed stage. Upon seeing it, they immediately informed the Valparai forest officials who arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.
In their investigation it was revealed that the dead elephant was a 25 year old female elephant and that it has been dead for more than a month now.
The cause of death wasto able to be determined as the elephant's body was in a decayed stage. Later, the Valparai Veterinary Doctor was informed about this and after a necropsy procedure was performed on the elephant's body it was left to be eaten by the wild animals.
Since the elephant was dead in a mysterious way, wildlife activists have requested the forest officials to determine whether the elephant died because of natural causes or by Covid-19.
