The Wellington Cantonment office which is under the department of Defense has been temporarily closed as 3 officers working at the Coonoor Wellington Cantonment office tested positive for the Covid-19 virus.
The Coonoor Wellington Cantonment office in The Nilgiris district has more than 15 staff and more than 300 cleaners working in it. This office is frequently visited by the public who come to pay land tax, drinking water tax, the issuing of birth and death certificates etc.
However, the office was shut down under the orders of Chief Officer Pooja Balicha after a female officer and 2 male officers tested positive for the virus.
Officials said that the premises will be closed as the results for the sample collected have not yet arrived. Officials also said that a decision will be made after meeting with the superior authorities.
