Coimbatore couple sell jewels worth Rs. 2 lakh to donate 100 fans for ESI's Covid Centre in ESI
Coimbatore: A couple from Coimbatore who were administered the Covid vaccine in Singanallur's ESI hospital were moved by the plight of Covid-19 patients who were suffering without a fan at the same hospital. The couple sold their jewellery worth Rs.2,50,000 and donated 100 fans for the hospital.
The couple, who live in Ramnagar area of Coimbatore run a small shop in the same area and handed over the fans to the ESI Hospital Dean, Dr. Ravindran. But the Dean briefed them that there was no need for so many fans and asked them to take back half the number of fans and recover their jewellery. However, the couple insisted that they would not take back what they had bought for the patients and also refused to provide their names and details.
The ESI Hospital Dean then informed the Coimbatore District Collector S Nagarajan about the grand gesture of a simple couple amidst a pandemic scenario. Since then, the couple's noble act has gone viral on social media.
