Two men arrested for murdering a painter in Veerakeralam; Police on the lookout for 3 absconding men involved in the murder
Coimbatore: Police have arrested two men in connection with the murder of a painter in Veerakeralam near Coimbatore and are on the lookout for three more suspects. The body of the painter was found on April 24 at a ground near the TASMAC liquor store in Veerakeralam.
Vadavalli police had registered a case after identifying the deceased as Dharmalingam (45), a painter from Veerakeralam. Police revealed after interrogating Prabhu (28) from Mullai Nagar and Muthukumar (29) from Perur Chettipalayam that the two friends of Dharmalingam had been drinking together on April 23 along with other friends who have been identified as Kali, Jaya and Nanda at a house near the Sugarcane Institute.
After a while, 3 gms of gold belonging to Kali was reportedly lost. Since Dharmalingam had left home without telling any of his friends, they suspected that he had stolen the gold.
The next day, the five friends reportedly took Dharmalingam to a TASMAC store near a cemetery in Veerakeralam and once again drank alcohol together and later attacked him there. Police revealed that Dharmalingam was left at the spot where he died while his five friends fled the scene. The police have registered a case of murder and arrested Prabhu and Muthukumar, and are now on the lookout for the three absconding men.
