Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner inspects isolation wards and vaccination camps in East Zone

Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian visited and inspected isolation wards and vaccination camp sites in the Eastern Zone of Coimbatore Corporation.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, Kumaravel Pandian visited and inspected isolation wards and Covid-19 vaccination camps in the Eastern Zone of Coimbatore Corporation.



The Corporation has undertaken various preventive measures to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Coimbatore district andthe Commissioner visited the special medical camp held at Kandasamy Road in Ward No. 68 in the East Zone on Tuesday. He urged all the members of the public in these areas to undergo Covid-19 testing and also vaccinate themselves against Covid-19.

Later, he visited the isolated areas of Uppilipalayam Primary Health Centre and inspected the vaccination drive for pregnant women.



Kumaravel Pandian also visited Ondipudur Ward No. 60, Senthil Janata Nagar and Ward No. 59, Kannan Nagar and inspected isolated areas.



During the inspection, the Commissioner saw a bakery open in the area which was a violation of Government guidelines, and hence instructed the bakery to down its shutters immediately. He instructed that "to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infections, testing has to be frequently done and individuals with symptoms should be referred to the hospital immediately. If there are more than three houses in each street with Covid-19 infected people, the best way to control the spread of the disease is to isolate those streets.

Public must refrain from stepping out often and an awareness must be raised to prevent the spread of the disease. Public must strictly adhere to the Government guidelines like social distancing, wearing masks, drink Kabasura Water and take a regular supply of vitamins. People must also regularly wash their hands with soap and water. If any of the family members have symptoms of Covid-19, they should be medically examined immediately and isolated areas should be disinfected," he added.

"By using 15 vehicles in 5 zonal areas, the Corporation is taking measures to provide 6,000 Covid-19 vaccines using mobile facilities in a day, to the general public in all the areas under the Corporation. The goal of this mobile service is to raise the number to 8000. In addition, adequate bed facilities have been provided in hospitals as per the Government's initiatives. Individuals who are arriving from other places should isolate themselves. Gatherings and crowds should be avoided. I request the public to kindly cooperate with the Corporation to prevent the spread of this fast-sweeping pandemic," reiterated the Commissioner.

East Zone Assistant Commissioner Murugan, Zonal Health Officer Chandran, Health Department officials and nurses were present during this inspection.
