Kanagaraj, an entrepreneur from Coimbatore is selling tender coconut water and sugarcane juice to fight the crisis created by the Covid-19 pandemic
Coimbatore: In spite of the challenges posed by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic to all industries, with small entrepreneurs not even recovering from the effects of the first wave of Covid-1, a small business owner Kanagaraj has been selling tender coconut water and sugarcane juice to deal with the pressures of the Covid-19 situation.
Kanagaraj, who operates K S Naveen Rewinding Works near Cheran Managar, Coimbatore said, "There are over 30,000 small businesses operating in the district. Most of these companies are relying on job orders. I have been working in this engineering field for over 20 years. In my experience I have encountered various dilemmas.
For example, we faced a crisis during the power outage in Tamil Nadu. We had enough job orders but had power cut as the major issue. Following that, the GST scheme had a huge impact on small businesses which was followed by the lockdown imposed by the Government to contain the Covid-19 spread. We tried to come out of the crisis situation but now the second wave has started to affect industries."
"The entire lockdown implemented due to the first wave of Covid-19 severely affected the livelihood of entrepreneurs. While the effects of the first wave have not yet been dealt with, the rapid spread of the second wave has caused great consternation among micro-entrepreneurs. On the other hand, job orders are currently down significantly due to the ever-increasing raw material prices. I have hired an employee in my company but there is no job to give him.
Hence,I have started selling tender coconut water in front of my company to protect my livelihood during this crisis.
I am currently launching the sale of sugarcane juice as well. This will help small businesses like mine to recover from the current damage. My request to small business owners in Coimbatore district is to not give up but fight against the crisis," he added.
"Once the current situation is conducive, normalcy will return to Coimbatore. Those days are not far off. We have to do something to overcome the current crisis situation. Never lose self-confidence. Tests and restrictions are not new to the industry. With this in mind, we must act with the intention of ensuring we recover," states a motivated Kanagaraj.
