Govt. bus conductor argues with Corporation officials for being imposed a fine of Rs.1000 for overcrowding the bus
Coimbatore: To avoid the spread of Covid-19 infections, the Tamil Nadu government had strictly prohibited buses from plying with full capacity of passengers. A Government bus conductor got into an argument with Corporation officials who slapped a fine of Rs.1000 for the bus being overcrowded, near Coimbatore.
Corporation officials in the area under the jurisdiction of the Coimbatore Corporation are diligently checking passengers and bus drivers and conductors of both Government and private buses if they were wearing face masks, and adhering to the limit imposed by the Government on the number of passengers during travel.
During one of the checks by Coimbatore Corporation officials near Ukkadam this morning on a Government bus on the Gandhipuram to Chattakalpudur route, it was evident that the bus was overcrowded. Based on this, Corporation officials levied Rs. 1000 fine which the conductor objected to and began arguing with the officials causing a stir. The bus was allowed to leave the spot after the bus workers negotiated with the authorities saying that they would pay the fine later.
