Locals rejoice over sudden afternoon rains in Valparai

People delighted by the sudden rains that lashed Valparai

Coimbatore: Valparai has been experiencing hot weather for the past few weeks due to the piercing summer sun.

Locals have been lamenting at the heat wave, with rivers and streams completely running dry due to lack of rainfall in summer. Tea plants in tea estates looked scorched due to lack of rains.

But with sudden heavy rains lashing Valparai this afternoon, pleasant weather prevailed much to the delight of locals. Tea workers were of the opinion that if rains continued for a few more days, the growth of tea plants and productivity would increase, thus creating more jobs for workers in the area.
