Enraged man kills dog in Coimbatore, case filed under two sections against him and his friend for animal torture
Coimbatore: Balasundaram and Srinivasan live as neighbours at VOC Colony in Peelamedu. When Srinivasan's relative visited the house and was parking his motorcycle outside, Balasundaram's dog which is known for barking at strangers and scaring them away, rushed at Srinivasan's relative barking ferociously and bit him. The injured relative reported the incident to Srinivasan who immediately took him to the hospital for treatment.
Srinivasan who was enraged after the incident went to Balasundaram's house with his friend, dragged the dog to the road and after tying it to a tree began beating it up. In spite of passers-by trying to stop the cruelty, the dog was seriously injured.
People in the area immediately informed the Animal Welfare Organization. Upon receiving the information, Balasundaram and neighbours were urged to lodge a complaint with the police. Following this, Balasundaram lodged a complaint with the Peelamedu police. Police are prosecuting Srinivasan and his friend under two sections on grounds of animal cruelty.
