The Coimbatore District Committee of the Tamil Nadu Farmers Association said that the occupied public works waterway and the check dam should be safely restored to protect the livelihood of the people in the area.
Coimbatore: Members of the Tamil Nadu Farmers Association Coimbatore District Committee have lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Collector alleging that the Public Works Department owned waterway near the Karupparayan Kannimar temple site in the Belladhi village near Mettupalayam has been blocked which has closed the waterway and the check dam.

Farmers and the general public who depend on agriculture in the area for their livelihood are suffering due to the blockage of the public works waterway. The livelihoods of the people have been affected due to the occupation of lands and then selling it as plots. Actions should be taken against those who are arranging to divide them into houses and sell houses.”
