Check post set up in Valparai to prevent Kerala vehicles from entering Tamil Nadu
Coimbatore: With the second wave of Covid-19 sweeping across Valparai, active Covid-19 cases have been on the rise in the district. Hence the Valparai municipality officials have been spraying disinfectants and sanitizing areas in the district, apart from collecting phlegm and mucus samples to identify any fresh Covid-19 cases.
People especially labourers from the Malakkappara Estate near the Kerala border of Valparai visit the Sholayar border area in Tamil Nadu to buy groceries as well as other essentials. With Covid-19 cases spiking in Tamil Nadu, the State banned people of Malakkappara from entering Tamil Nadu.
Hence police officials have set up a check post at the border to monitor people movement across the border. It is reported that the public on the Kerala side of the border are struggling to buy their essentials owing to the ban.
