Tirupur: Tirupur salon owners and employees have filed a petition at the Tirupur Collectorate alleging that their livelihoods have been affected due to the restrictions announced by the Government to curb the impact of the second wave of Covid-19.

The Government of Tamil Nadu has imposed several new regulations to control the spread of the second wave of Covid-19 across the country. Since salon owners and even barbers have had to shut down their salons owing to the new Covid-19 restrictions, their livelihoods have been severely affected. Hence, they petitioned at the Collectorate asking for relief assistance of Rs.15,000 per month from the Government.
A petition was filed at the Collectorate on behalf of the Aadhi Maruthuvar Federation and Maruthuvar Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam urging the Government to also pay for the rent of shops, and to allow these shops to operate from morning till noon following proper Covid-19 protocol and also to waive off electricity bills for the shops.
