Two Coimbatore Corporation engineers suspended for substandard work on collapsed wall around Periyakulam

Coimbatore: A portion of the wall around Periyakulam’s walking track had collapsed due to heavy rains on March 14. The 12 feet-high wall was constructed around the track’s outer perimeter, seven months ago as part of the Smart City project.

In an enquiry, the Corporation Administration asked Assistant Engineer, Kalyana Sundaram and Assistant Executive Engineer, Umadevi for an explanation on the collapse of the compound wall. Since both did not offer any reasonable explanation, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, P Kumaravel Pandian ordered for both officials to be suspended from work.
