Devotees violated COVID-19 rules at a temple festival in Valparai; public in fear of virus spread

Coimbatore: All the temples and shrines in Valparai have been closed since last night in the Valparai area of Coimbatore district adhering to lockdown on Sunday.



Meanwhile, at a Mariamman Temple in the Anna Nagar area of Valparai, a temple festival was conducted violating the guidelines. Devotees were seen crowded at the temple premises without wearing masks or following social distancing.



Devotees were also seen eating at Annadanam without maintaining social distancing. This has caused panic among the Valparai public since this could speed up the Covid-19 spread in the city.
