Public in Valparai request municipality officials to address health hazard of dumping garbage on roads
Coimbatore: Valparai Municipality has over 5,000 homes and more than 1000 shopping centers. Waste from these areas are collected by the Valparai Municipality and are sent to the garbage disposal site at the Sholayar-Annai road.
The garbage disposal site belonging to the Valparai Municipality is located in an area where there is a Government college, Court complex, parking lot, Children's park and a residential neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, the Valparai Municipality officials who collect the garbage tend to dump them on the roads near the parking lot causing a heavy stench in the area. Due to this, people who live near this area are reportedly more vulnerable exposed to diseases and high infections.
The area has also witnessed wildlife movement with straying leopards scouring the area for poultry waste and other meat waste which have been dumped on the streets.
Public in the area have requested municipality officials to immediately address the danger of people being exposed to infections considering the Covid-19 pandemic wave that has swept across the state. They urged the Government to dispose of the grabage in a safe manner, to ensure public safety.
