Gold rate strikes high amid Covid-19 surge in Coimbatore

The price of 1 sovereign gold has crossed Rs 37,000 after five months in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: The spread of Covid-19 infection has been on the rise in recent days. Due to this, the price of gold is rising sharply. The price of 1 sovereign gold has crossed Rs 37,000 after five months in Coimbatore.

The price of gold began to rise sharply as the first wave of the disease spread. One sovereign of gold crossed Rs 43,000 and made new history. The price then dropped as the Covid-19 pandemic slowed down.

Around 7 months ago, the price of 1 sovereign gold was sold in the range of 33 thousand rupees. But it has started to rise again as the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is now spreading fast.

Five months in, the price of one sovereign gold in Coimbatore has hit Rs 37,000.

Coimbatore Gold Jewellery Manufacturers Association President Muthu Venkatram said, "Generally, any catastrophe will have an immediate impact on the price of gold. This is the reason behind the hike in the gold price as there is a high rate of Covid-19 cases. Prices will rise further in the coming days," he said.
