Coimbatore: Vamsi Krishna (37) from Saravana Nagar in Kavundampalayam filed a complaint at the All Women Police of Thudiyalur.
In the complaint, she has said, "I was married to Ilanzkumaran on July 9th, 2014. We did not have any kids. During the wedding for me, my family gave me jewellery and Rs 2 lakh cash as dowry. Even after that, my husband's father Ramalingam and mother Susila are threatening that I cannot live with my husband if my family does not give me a car and other items as dowry."
She further added, "March 18th, my husband's aunt and uncle came to my house and threatened us to give a car, a chain, Rs 2 lakhs in order to live with my husband. They also forced me to sign a divorce document on not giving them what they asked."
Vamsi Krishna has requested the police to take immediate action against the family members for dowry harassment.
Vamsi Krishna's husband Ilangumaran, his father Ramalingam (58), mother Susila (56) and cousin Mala are being prosecuted under 3 sections including dowry abuse.
