Forest Department beefs up efforts to capture roaming leopard in Valparai
Coimbatore: A leopard has been spotted roaming in the Anna Nagar Puthuthottam area and Vazhaithottam which is in the main part of Valparai in Coimbatore district.
In order to capture the leopard, the Forest Department officials have fitted a surveillance camera in the area to actively monitor the leopard's movement.
The Forest Department has also taken steps to capture the leopard by setting up cages at the river bank adjacent to the Vazhaithottam area as well as in the tea estate on the Nallakaathu Estate Road. Two teams led by forest ranger Muniyandi are maintaining a strict vigil on the cages as well as intensely patrolling the areas where the leopard was spotted.
The public has also been advised to be vigilant and keep children safe. They have also been advised by the public to bury meat waste collected at home and not to dispose them out in the open.
