COVID-19 infection confirmed in 25 people, including 4 sub-inspectors in Mettupalayam
Coimbatore: 25 people, including four Sub Inspectors from the Mettupalayam police station and police quarters and two Sub Inspectors in Periyanaickenpalayam have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19.
Mucus samples were taken from the Mettupalayam police station's officers on Sunday with the COVID-19 infection being confirmed in one Sub Inspector from the police quarters and in three Sub Inspectors at the police station. Mucus samples have also been collected from the families of the infected policemen from the police quarters.
In Ponnammal Garden near Karamadai, four people including a father, mother, son and daughter-in-law of the same family have been confirmed as infected with COVID-19. In Mettupalayam, Karamadai and Sirumugai areas, a total of 25 people were identified as having Coronavirus symptoms on Monday. They have been shifted to Mettupalayam Private Hospital, Coimbatore Government Hospital and Singanallur ESI Hospital.
After a Sub Inspector working at the Periyanaickenpalayam police station was confirmed as having been infected with COVID-19, disinfectants were sprayed in and around the police station. 40 people who were in contact with the infected person in the police quarters have also been tested, with 20 of them being examined at the Jyotipuram medical camp on Monday.
