Coimbatore: In an effort to prevent Dengue infection, Coimbatore Corporation workers are now involved in mixing chlorine in drinking water tanks across the city.
Drinking water is obtained and distributed to the Corporation of Coimbatore through joint drinking water schemes such as Siruvani, Pillur and Azhiyar.
Of this, drinking water obtained from Siruvani is provided to more than 20 wards in Coimbatore. The water is brought to the drinking water tanks set-up by the Corporation.
Now chlorine is mixed in drinking water tanks to prevent the production of dengue mosquitoes.
An official of the corporation stated, “Abate medicine is being mixed in drinking water tanks in houses and the ones belonging to the corporation to prevent the production of dengue mosquitoes. Chlorine is also mixed in the corporation's drinking water tanks in the city, '' said the official.
