Coimbatore: Aliyar Dam and Monkey Falls near Pollachi are some of the major tourist attractions in Coimbatore. With the Covid-19 lockdown announcements last year, they were shut down and was last reopened recently when the Covid-19 infection rate began to slow down.
But meanwhile, the TamilNadu Government has again imposed certain lockdown measures to avoid a surge in the spread of Covid-19. Accordingly a ban was imposed on tourist gatherings and the Aliyar Dam park was closed from today morning.
Public Department Officials closed down the entrance gates and have put up a banner with a Covid-19 awareness message. Additionally the forest officials announced that the Monkey Falls will be closed from tomorrow.
