More than one lakh workers depend on tourism in the Nilgiris district. Unfortunately, Tamil Nadu government has banned tourists from entering the Nilgiris district and announced that all tourist sites will be closed as the spread of Covid-19 is on the rise.

More than 300 workers have been involved in roadblocks at three locations, including the Ooty Sering Cross area and the Ooty-Mysore National Highway, demanding the government to revoke the announcement.
