Farmers lodge complaint against private company for embezzling Rs 40 lakh
Coimbatore: The farmers have lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police alleging that Jayabharathi Agro Foods, which was operating in Annur, Coimbatore, had been alleged to have fraudulently received goods from them and failed to pay them.
Sundararaju, the owner of Jayabharathi Agro Foods, has promised to buy the produce from farmers in small villages around the Annur area and pay 20 per cent of the amount immediately and the balance by cheque.
The bank replied that there was no money in the account and when the farmers contacted the company they did not get any formal reply from their side. They also accused Sundararaju of cheating them by not paying more than Rs 40 lakh due to them for 6 months. Further, a case has been registered against Sundararaju before this and no action has been taken against him. The case has not yet been transferred to the Economic Crimes Division.
Farmers have become frustrated with Jayabharathi Agro Foods as they are in severe debt crisis and depression. They met the Superintendent of Police in person and lodged a complaint. They asked them to take immediate action and recover their money.
