Coimbatore: The Mullupadi Iron Bridge which is a beautiful sight to behold during the day is shrouded in darkness due to lack of proper lighting.
The National Highways Department has widened the road from Echanari in Coimbatore district to Pollachi via Kinathukadavu for a distance of 27 km and laid a four lane concrete road. In addition, a long flyover has been set up at Kinathukadavu, Othakkalmandapam and Echanari to avoid traffic congestion during festival times.

Also, an iron bridge had been constructed at Mullupadi railway crossing by the Railway Department and the National Highways Department.

Two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers who cross the Iron Bridge flyover tend to stop to click pictures. But of late, the Mullupadi railway iron bridge is seen shrouded in darkness at nights since lights have not yet been installed.

Motorists and general public are waiting for permanent lights for the flyover but it is reported that people are confused whether the installation of electric lights on the Mullupadi flyover is to be done by the Railway Department or the National Highways Department.
