Chennai High Court to hear cases online from Saturday

Due to the spread of COVID-19 infections, the Chief Registrar has announced that cases will be heard only online from Saturday at the Chennai High Court and the Madurai branch of the High Court.


Chennai: With the second wave of COVID-19 spiking infection across the country, about 7,000 people in a day have reportedly been infected.

Owing to this, the Chief Registrar has announced that all court cases will only be heard online from Saturday, at the Chennai High Court and the Madurai branch of the High Court.

It has been stated that public prosecutors should appear directly only for major cases and bail cases. All other hearings will be held online and are expected to continue until April 23. The Chief Registrar of the High Court also stated that an order would be issued on April 22, after reviewing the COVID-19 situation.
