Pollachi MP visits Smart City project site to inspect compound wall collapse.
Coimbatore: Pollachi MP Shanmugasundaram visited the Smart City project site in person today to inspect the compound wall that had collapsed due to heavy rains.
"The compound wall in Thondamuthur constituency which was built under the Smart City project had been in a dilapidated state for six months. This work should not proceed until the District Administrator, the Corporation Commissioner, the Smart City officials and the contractor who have undertaken the work have inspected and reported on the collapse to the Central Government.
I will also inform the District Collector by sending him an official letter that the district administration should bring in Central Government officials to inspect the substandard compound wall which had been built at a huge cost and submit its report to the Central Government after which work can continue," opined MP Shanmugasundaram.
He also added that appropriate action should be taken against the contractor who built the compound wall.
