District Traders Association demand suspension of Kaatoor Police Inspector Latha
Coimbatore: Coimbatore Municipal Traders Association has demanded the transfer of Kaatoor Police Inspector Latha who has been threatening traders in the area.
The Coimbatore Traders Association held an emergency consultation meeting in Gandhipuram area and a resolution was passed condemning the incident in which a Sub-Inspector stormed into a restaurant near the Gandhipuram Central Bus Stand on the night of April 11 and attacked the staff and diners, including women who were eating.
The Police Commissioner had initiated immediate action against the erring police official and the State Human Rights Commission commnded him for conducting the investigation voluntarily.
Raja, the President of the Association also brought to light the suffering caused by Kaatoor Police Inspector Latha for small traders. He condemned some police officials who were doing night patrols as extremists since they engaged in shooting pictures of restaurant staff on their cell phones, poured water on dosa counters etc which further hampered their businesses that were already reeling in an environment that has been severely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He demanded action immediately against Inspector Latha for constantly causing inconvenience to traders int he city.
