Unidentified men rob Rs. 8 lakh from elderly man emerging from a bank in Tirupur
Tirupur: Unidentified men snatched Rs. 8 lakhs from Venkatachalam (62) who emerged from a bank in Tirupur after withdrawing money. Venkatachalam who hails from Palladam Kunnangalpalayam and runs a dyeing unit, went to the SBI Bank on Palladam Road in the Vidyalaya area to withdraw Rs. 8 lakhs for business purposes. After emerging from the bank, Venkatachalam left the money in the car and was getting into the driver's seat when a man pinched Venkatachalam on his hip.
Before Venkatachalam could turn to see who had pinched him, another man in a two-wheeler grabbed the money from the front seat of the car and fled the spot. Venkatachalam's screams for help fell on deaf ears.
The Veerapandi police have been informed of the day light robbery and are investigating in this regard with the aid of CCTV footage from the bank. It is reported that both the unidentified men were watching Venkatachalam as he withdrew money from the bank and as planned diverted his attention when he emerged from the bank and stole his money.
