Coimbatore: Eeswaramoorthy (49), a resident of Kannivadi in Dindigul district, has been running an Emu Poultry farm for the past two years under the name of Sabari Andavar Emu Farm in Tirupur - Nachipalayam Gold Nagar area.
To attract investors, he has been announcing online. Following this, many approached him and he successfully cheated 11 people and went into hiding. Eeswaramoorthy has scammed them for Rs 15,58,800 in total.
Sakthivel (41), is an investor in this farm. He resides in the Mookambika Nagar area of the Tirupur district. He has lodged a complaint with the Tirupur Crime Branch Police on behalf of this.
Police officials filed a case under sections 406 and 420 and arrested Sabari Eeswaramoorthy and remanded him in custody.
The case was later transferred to the Coimbatore Economic Crimes Division. But Eeswaramoorthy was released on bail.
The case is being handled in the Coimbatore Investor Welfare Court. Today, Judge Ravi sentenced Eeswaramoorthy to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15 lakh.
