Arrangements are being made to treat COVID-19 patients using Siddha treatment in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: Based on the choice of treatment for those fighting COVID-19 infection, a Siddha treatment unit with 50 beds was set up at the CODISSIA Covid-19 treatment center.
Over a thousand people have reportedly chosen Siddha treatment to fight COVID-19 infection. The Siddha treatment unit set up at the center was withdrawn last January after a decline in the number of new patients. Currently, the second wave of the COVID-19 infection seems to be sweeping across Coimbatore with the number of daily infected cases rising to 600.
Health department officials have warned that COVID-19 cases are likely to further increase in the days ahead. Arrangements to provide for Siddha treatment centers again for COVID-19 infections are being made, according to the officials.
A district official said, "COVID-19 patients were treated with Siddha treatment including medicines like Kabasura drinking water, Suranam, Amukkara, Brahmananda Bhairavam tablets and Adathodai Manapaku. The patients recovered quickly with the Siddha treatment. The treatment center will be set up at a private wedding hall on Trichy Road. Work is underway to set up enclosures to treat men and women separately. In the first phase, 80 beds will be set up. Siddha treatment will thus begin soon for patients infected with CVOID-19," added the official.
