Coimbatore: The "Fire Service Week" is being observed by the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Department from 14.04.2021 till 20.04.2021. Accordingly, the Fire and Rescue Department near Valparai conducted an awareness campaign about fires to the public of Valparai in Coimbatore.
The event was conducted under the leadership of Valparai Fire and Rescue Department Chief Officer Prakash Kumar and was successfully carried out by members Velumani, Senthil Prakash and Amirsulthan.
Valparai Fire and Rescue Department officials, as a part of their awareness campaign, went as a procession in the streets from Valparai Post Office via Bus stand and Gandhi Statue. They distributed pamphlets which were about how to avoid fire outbreaks in homes. Officials also requested the public to turn off the gas regulator after cooking and gave out instructions like rolling a fire accident victim on the floor to avoid further burn, applying cold water on the wound etc.
The officials also requested schools to keep their doors open as fire exit and also urged the school members to teach about fire safety to children as a part of their curriculum.
