Coimbatore: Sub-Inspector Muthu, who attacked the diners and staff from a hotel in Coimbatore, was suspended at midnight.
This decision comes after five people, including women from Hosur in the Krishnagiri district, were dining at a hotel at the Gandhipuram Central bus stand at around 10.15 pm on 11 April. SI Muthu, who was on patrol at the time entered the hotel and attacked them with a lathi. He stated COVID-19 restrictions as a reason. All these scenes were recorded on the CCTV camera there. Five people including a woman and the workers were badly injured.
This incident became viral and investigations began. Following this, S.I. Muthu was transferred to the Armed Forces.
