They also said that in case of violating Covid-19 protocols, legal actions must be taken rather than physical attacks like these which cannot be justified.
Coimbatore: Gandhipuram C1 police officials were on patrol in the Gandhipuram Bus Stand area of Coimbatore on 11th April 2021 around 10 pm.
The police officials led by Sub Inspector Muthu forced the restaurant to close at 10.20 pm and started yelling. They attacked the public who were eating at the restaurant.
The public is shocked by this sudden attack by police. The case is being investigated by the orders of the Commissioner of Police.
Coimbatore District members from the Indian Democratic Youth Association have condemned the actions of the police and have urged serious action against the cop involved in the attack for violating human rights.
" The action of Coimbatore Police is reprehensible as this attack was done despite the government's permission to allow restaurants in the state, operate with up to 50 per cent of people until 11 p.m. In case of violating Covid-19 protocols, legal actions must be taken rather than physical attacks like these which cannot be justified," the members said.
